Damp, Condensation & Moisture Problems Properly Diagnosed
Don’t guess. Identify the cause before treating the symptoms.

Targeted damp solutions based on proper diagnosis.
Recent Damp Proofing Work
We carry out damp proofing and moisture control work across London, identifying the root cause of issues and applying targeted solutions based on the condition of each property.
Below is an example of a recent project where damp issues were investigated and resolved.
Case Study: Internal Damp & Wall Restoration
This project involved addressing internal damp issues affecting the lower sections of a wall within a residential property.
The client had noticed visible signs of damp and deterioration of the wall surface, particularly around the bay window area.
The inspection identified moisture presence within the wall, along with salt contamination affecting the plaster.
There were also signs of previous movement, which had contributed to deterioration of the internal finishes.
-
Removal of affected plaster back to brickwork
-
Installation of a damp proof course
-
Application of a salt resistant render system
-
Replastering using appropriate materials
-
Preparation for redecoration
Work Undertaken

Outcome
The affected areas were fully treated, restoring the internal wall surface and preventing further moisture related deterioration.
The works provided a stable and suitable surface ready for final decorative finishes.
This project involved issues commonly associated with rising damp and internal moisture, which is explained further in our rising damp guide.
Case Study: External Wall Penetrating Damp
This project involved damp penetration affecting an external wall, where moisture was entering the property due to defects in the building fabric.
The issue had become more noticeable during periods of rainfall, with visible damp patches forming internally.
Initial Findings
Inspection identified external defects including deteriorated mortar joints and areas of porous brickwork, allowing water to pass through the wall.
Work Undertaken
-
Raked out defective mortar joints
-
Repointed external brickwork
-
Applied protective treatment to external surface
-
Addressed points of water ingress

The external defects were resolved, preventing further water penetration and stabilising the internal wall condition.
Case Study: Basement Waterproofing & Tanking
This project involved addressing damp and moisture ingress within a basement area, where water was affecting the lower wall sections and floor junction.
The issue was consistent with below ground moisture pressure, requiring a waterproofing solution to control water ingress.
Inspection identified moisture penetration through the basement walls and at the wall to floor junction, indicating the need for a tanking system to control water ingress.
-
Preparation of wall and floor surfaces
-
Application of waterproof tanking system
-
Formation of wall to floor fillet detail
-
Treatment of all vulnerable areas to prevent ingress
The basement area was successfully waterproofed, preventing further moisture ingress and providing a dry, stable environment.

This type of issue is commonly associated with basement damp and water ingress, which is explained further in our basement waterproofing guide.
Case Study: Condensation & Mould Control
This project involved addressing condensation and mould issues within a residential property, where excess moisture in the air was leading to surface mould growth.
The issue was affecting internal wall surfaces, particularly in areas with limited ventilation.
Inspection identified high humidity levels and poor air circulation, contributing to condensation forming on colder wall surfaces and resulting in mould growth.
Work Undertaken
-
Identification of moisture sources
-
Recommendations for improved ventilation
-
Treatment of affected surfaces
-
Application of appropriate mould control measures

This issue is commonly associated with condensation and internal moisture imbalance, which is explained further in our condensation and mould guide.
